🎧 What Are StoryPhones & How Do They Work?
StoryPhones are smart, screen-free storytelling headphones designed specifically for children.
Think of StoryPhones as a portable audiobook player and cozy headphones all in one—completely screen-free! Kids simply snap a small, magnetic disc (called a StoryShield) onto the ear cup, and the story automatically starts playing. It gives kids the independence to choose their own stories without needing a phone or tablet.

StoryPhones are designed for children from around age 3.
The adjustable headband helps them fit comfortably as your child grows.
📦 What is included with each purchase of a StoryPhones?
StoryPhones comes in 2 colours: White & Grey.
Each StoryPhones set includes the headphones, a ZenShield with calming sounds, a PlayShield for recording your own audio, a USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm audio cable, a set of Instruction Manuals & a travel bag.
📱 Do I need to download the app to use StoryPhones?
You’ll need the free StoryPhones app for the initial setup and to connect your StoryPhones to Bluetooth and WiFi. Once setup is complete, your child can download & enjoy listening to their stories on their StoryPhones without needing the StoryPhones app.
🛜 Do we need Wi-Fi every time you listen to a StoryShield?
You’ll need Wi-Fi just to download new StoryShield content to your StoryPhones.
After that, your child can listen offline. All you or your child have to do is place the StoryShield, on your StoryPhones and enjoy. Perfect for flights, road trips, and places without reliable internet.
🔵 Can my child use them as normal Bluetooth headphones?
Absolutely! ✅
Without a StoryShield attached, StoryPhones work as Bluetooth headphones for music, videos, or calls.
They can also be used with the included 3.5mm cable when the battery is low.

Yes!
StoryPhones are made with kid-safe, impact-resistant materials designed to handle all kinds of play and adventures. 🛡️🎧

🛡️ What is a StoryShield?
A StoryShield is a small, magnetic audio disc used with StoryPhones. Each shield contains pre-loaded content—such as audiobooks, Disney classics, fairy tales, or music.
There are 3 types of StoryShields:
- StoryShield: Pre-recorded story and audiobook discs.
- PlayShield: A blank, customizable disc that lets parents or family members record their own audio via the mobile app.
- ZenShield: Pre-loaded relaxation audio like pink noise, ocean waves, and soothing piano music for quiet time or sleep.

📱 Is the app difficult to set up?
No.
Download the free StoryPhones app, complete a one-time setup using your phone, and then your child can enjoy their StoryShields without needing the app for everyday listening.

⚙️ My new StoryShield isn’t playing—what should I do?
Check that the headphones are charged, connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and that the StoryShield is clicked firmly into place. The first download may take a few minutes. For best results, download the StoryShield within 10ft (3m) of your WiFi router.

Safe Listening, Battery & Charging
🔊 Will the volume get too loud?
No.
Designed with Safe Audio®, StoryPhones have built-in volume limits to help protect young ears.
You can choose & change the volume limits to 75dB for toddlers, 85dB for everyday listening, or 94dB for noisy places like planes or cars. Parents can change the volume limits through the StoryPhones app.
🎚️ Can my child change the volume limit?
The higher volume setting is protected in the StoryPhones app, so children cannot simply turn it up themselves. This gives parents more peace of mind during independent listening.
🔋 How long does the battery last?
StoryPhones provide up to 20 hours of continuous listening on a full charge—enough for a long journey, a day out, or several bedtime sessions.
🪫 How long does it take to charge?
About 2 hours with the included USB-C cable.
Travel & Everyday Use
✈️ Are StoryPhones good for travel?
Yes.
Once stories are downloaded, they work without Wi-Fi, mobile data, or Bluetooth. They’re especially useful on planes, trains, road trips, and during waits at restaurants.
🧳 Is StoryPhones easy to take on trips?
Yes.
StoryPhones are lightweight and foldable, and the included travel bag keeps the headphones, StoryShields, and cables together.
For extra protection and organized storage, add a StoryCase—perfect for flights, road trips, and days out.
📺 Can my child use StoryPhones to watch movies on the airplane’s entertainment system?
Please check with your airline to confirm the type of audio connection on your seatback screen.
- If it has a single 3.5mm audio jack: Simply connect StoryPhones using the included 3.5mm audio cable.
- If it has a 3-pin, dual 3.5mm connection: You’ll need a 3.5mm airplane adapter. Plug the adapter into the seatback screen, then connect StoryPhones using the included 3.5mm audio cable.
Because wired mode does not require battery power, your child can continue watching movies and shows even when StoryPhones are running low on charge.
If your airplane does not include an entertainment system, your child can still listen to the StoryShields on their StoryPhones. Just remember to download the stories to the StoryPhones before your travels.
